Launder & Press

Shirt Laundry & Pressing in Scarsdale

Dress shirts are laundered in water, then pressed on a form or by hand. It's a different process from dry cleaning — final garment suitability is assessed when we see the shirt, since some fabrics and trims clean better dry-only.

How it differs from dry cleaning

  • Launder & press uses water, mild detergent, and pressing — ideal for most cotton and poly-cotton dress shirts.
  • Dry cleaning uses solvent, not water — better for silk, wool, tailored garments, and anything with structure or trim.
  • If a shirt is better suited to dry cleaning, we'll tell you before cleaning and quote accordingly.

Common questions

Can I bring any shirt?
Most cotton and poly-cotton dress shirts are a good fit. Silk, delicate trims, or heavily structured garments usually clean better dry-only — we'll flag it when we see the shirt.
Hanger or boxed?
Hanger ($3.50) is ready-to-wear on a hanger. Boxed ($4.00) is folded and boxed for travel or storage.
How do I send shirts in?
Drop off at 167 Brook Street anytime we're open, or add shirts to a home pickup if you're within six miles of the shop.
